Pro-Russian Organizations Increase Dramatically Influence On Mahiliou Students

Over the past few weeks, several events have taken place in nearby Smalensk.

Last week, mspring.online, a journal on human rights, wrote about actions aimed at involving Mahiliou youth in the integration processes in Russia.

And again in Smalensk, from April 21 to April 23, they held the next Russian-Belarusian conference for young people from the border regions - Mahiliou and Vitsebsk. Mahiliou was traditionally represented by the Social and Cultural Public Association "Heritage" headed by Vital Artsiomchyk, a teacher of the Belarusian-Russian University (BRU). This time, during the event, there was less information than usual on the official page of Heritage in VKontakte social network. Only photos and hashtags - # BRU_Mogilev and # College_Art were posted under the title "Russian-Belarusian youth conference. Day One.” After the conference, a general report on the event was published.

But the united information system “Volunteers of Russia” immediately indexed a search query. It turns out that volunteers were preparing a Russian-Belarusian youth conference in Smalensk, timed to the Day of Unity of the Peoples of Belorussia and Russia (spelling preserved).

The Smalensk Branch of the Russian Youth Union, with reference to the Smolenskaya Hazeta, published information that the development of the youth policy of the Union State was discussed at the Smalensk State University.

On April 22, the title of the conference sounded like “Strengthening Ties Between The Youth Of The Two Countries In The Context Of Modern Integration Processes.” The event was organized by the Smolensk branch of the Russian Union of Youth with the participation of the Administration of the region and Smalensk State University.

According to the organizers, the main practical task of the forum is the discussion and further launch of Russian-Belarusian youth initiatives, presentation of successful work experience, networking, acquaintance with the capabilities of Russian youth centers and structures. This year, special emphasis was put on the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders, as well as on the need to preserve the memory of the Great Patriotic War.

The conference included several sections: “Mass media: multimedia journalism and its role in shaping the information space of the border areas of Russia and Belarus”, “Role of youth in the construction of the Union State”, “One story - one Victory. Patriotic education as a tool for the socialization of young people. ”

On Monday, the youth conference brought together a little over a hundred representatives of youth organizations, Russian authorities, media and universities from different regions of Russia and Belarus. The forum ended on Tuesday, April 23rd. Considering that all these are working days, it seems logical to ask when teachers work at BRU and when do students study if they go to a neighboring country every week?
