In March, a Russian businessman, former husband of the ex-lead singer of the “VIA Gra” pop band Santa Dimopoulos Vladimir Samsonenko was detained in Minsk. Since March 22, 2019, Vladimir Samsonenko has been in held in custody in the remand prison.

According to the information provided to tut.by by lawyer of defense Yauhen Maslau, his client Vladimir Samsonenko was detained at the request of the Moldovan law enforcement agencies, which had put Samsonenko on the international wanted list for committing crimes under Article 27, 145 and 164 of the Criminal Code of Moldova (an attempt to commit a crime - murder and kidnapping).

The father of the detainee, Vitaly Samsonenko, believes that there are many inconsistencies in his son’s case. Vladimir Samsonenko is accused in having allegedly entered into a criminal conspiracy with citizen P. (held at that time in prison) and other unidentified persons in 2019, organized and led the actions of Albanian mercenaries, attempted murder and kidnapping.

“My son is being blamed for the fact that he wanted to release P. from prison with the help of the same Albanian mercenaries, for which he had to kill a high-ranking Moldovan official and abduct his underage children. Interestingly, the ciphered correspondence from detention facilities using a mobile phone is cited as evidence of my son’s guilt,” says Samsonenko Senior.

“That is, it turns out you can freely use mobile phones in the Moldovan prison, and a murder or a murder attempt can be arranged by a phone call, without leaving Belarus for a year. My son is an honest and decent person, he is not familiar with any criminal Moldovan and Albanian elements. Never even been in these countries. This is some kind of detective, written by order, ” the father of the detainee is perplexed.

Vitaly Samsonenko assures that his son planned to attract “foreign investment funds of large financial companies” to Belarus. “And as soon as he reached the final stage of the year’s work, he was detained,” notes Samsonenko Sr.

Vladimir Samsonenko was born in 1979, he is a citizen of Russia. A trained lawyer. He studied at the Vienna University of Economics and Business. Co-owner of the group of companies UP.ME Consulting & Marketing, ltd. Formerly married to Santa Dimopoulos (former lead singer at “VIA Gra” pop band), remarried, has two young children.

Since May 2018, Vladimir has been permanently residing in Belarus, where he registered the organization LLC Salvation (an investment crypto-fund and a cryptocurrency operator).
