Surprises For Drivers: Either Change Rights, Or Carry Certificate With You

Surprises For Drivers: Either Change Rights, Or Carry Certificate With You

The rules of the road will make changed in Belarus.

In the near future, Belarusian drivers will face many surprises, and not all of them can be considered pleasant.

However, traffic safety, for which the traffic police bodies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs are responsible in our country, requires not only expenditures on the part of the state, but also certain sacrifice from residents of Belarus, the Economic Newspaper writes.

The draft of the amendments to be introduced into the Road Traffic Regulations is posted on the Legal Forum of Belarus for public comment. Proposals from citizens and legal entities are accepted until May 15, 2019, but experience shows that most often such documents are accepted in the form proposed by the developer – they have already passed all the necessary approvals, and the discussion most often has a formal nature.

Therefore, it is already possible to get acquainted with the innovations that Belarusian car enthusiasts will face in the very near future. We will start the story about them with the documents that drivers will have to carry and present if necessary.

A year ago, bodies of the traffic police announced the abolishion of the so-called perpetual driver's license from 2020. We remind that the license in which the period of their action was not put down were issued at the times of the USSR, as well as in Belarus until 1995. Naturally, the majority of drivers with a great driving experience own them – there were no weighty reasons for replacing them with the license of a new model, with the exception of those drivers who go abroad.

It seems that the traffic police’s proposal to abolish the “Soviet” certificates has failed – recently, the authorities have been trying not to irritate the population without need. However, certain changes in traffic regulations associated with them are still planned to be made.

In accordance with the draft, the driver will have to present to the traffic police officer a health certificate well known to all drivers, which confirms that its owner can drive a car in case of the driving license has been issued in Belarus, as well as in the former USSR, where the validity is not specified.

Thus, in the case the project is adopted in the form it has been presented, the drivers with “experience” will have to either get the license of a new type or constantly carry a medical certificate with them.
