Bad Forecasts: Lukashenka Is Going To Liquidate Belhidramet

The ruler said, "We don't need a hydrometeorological center like this."

Lukashenka is dissatisfied with the way the Republican Center for Hydrometeorology, Radioactive Pollution Control and Environmental Monitoring (Belhidramet) is coping with its duties, interfax.by reports.

"Something should be done with them: they should be either liquidated or brought to life. At best, the reliability of weather forecasts is 50-70%. We don't need such a Hydrometeorological Center," - Lukashenka said, considering personnel issues on Tuesday.

"I am now guided by the military, who see the weather in real time, tell me where it rains in the country and what will happen in the next 12 hours. They give an accurate forecast by almost 100%, but it's short-period," - the governor said.

"We need to know what's going on, what's going to happen tomorrow, the day after tomorrow, in order to orientate," - he added.

Previously, Lukashenka has already criticized the quality of weather forecasts made by Belhidramet. Thus, in 2017, when appointing a new head of the Ministry of Natural Resources, the ruler said that "sometimes it's impossible to read their (Belhidramet's) forecasts... Sometimes, having read it, I wish they hadn't forecasted anything at all."
