Officials Tormented By Questions Of Where "Parasites" Get Money
MARYJA TARASENKA

The main specialist of the Department of Organizational and Personnel Work of Yelsk District Executive Committee spoke out in court.

The main specialist of the department of organizational and personnel work of Yelsk District Executive Committee, Aliaksandr Mazurenka, couldn't help it in the Mazyr court and asked Maryja Tarasenka, an unemployed Homel resident, where the money to pay the court fee came from, Homel Viasna writes.

The trial was coming to an end when the judge asked what questions the parties would like to ask each other. "You paid the court fee, where did you get the money from, if you don't work? - the district executive committee specialist asked.

The woman, known for her fight against the "parasite" decree, joked - her relatives sent it from the United States of America, to which the official seriously demanded the proof. It is difficult to guess what else the representative of Yelsk district executive committee would have demanded, if the situation hadn't been saved by the judge, who said, "that’s besides the point."

Homel human rights activist Leanid Sudalenka calls the questions of the official in court thuggish and stresses that no one but the tax inspectorate has the right to ask citizens about their income.

"Instead of proving the necessity and expediency of the ban on the street procession in the district center, the official, called as the defendant, considers himself to be the Almighty even in court, asking the woman about the money. On the other hand, we didn't appoint this specialist to the district executive committee, so what can you expect of him?" - the lawyer commented on the situation.

We remind that all the courts of the Homel region are currently considering Maryja Tarasenka's complaints against the ban on protests against the "parasite" decree.
