Barysau Residents: We Can No Longer Stand Mockery And Lawlessness Of Authorities

A cry for help of the residents of Liadzishcha district.

The residents of Barysau wrote to Charter97.org about what is happening in their town and how the local authorities deal with citizens:

"Dear Charter-97! You are addressed by the residents of the city of Barysau (Liadzishcha district).

The topic is painful - the power and the people. We can no longer tolerate mockery and lawlessness. We're sick of it.

75 years have passed since the end of the war, when the army threw out the Nazi invaders from our land. The people took a rest: at last all the most terrible things ended and now we will be healed with a dream of a "bright future", but it turned out that the joy was premature.

The German fascist invaders were replaced by "our" and Russian ones. In fact, it turned out that they are worse than the previous ones: the current authorities are doing everything so that the citizens of Belarus die slowly - in torment, abuse, deprived of basic normal living conditions, without means of subsistence, without work, without funds for treatment and purchase of medicines, maintenance and education of children, and so on.

What is happening now in the country and, in particular, in our region? There is hatred, humiliation, unwillingness to help people, constant formal replies and eternal "there is no money."

We cite the facts as evidence:

1. We applied to the district executive committee with a request to restore street lighting (near houses #31, 27, 23, 25, the bus-stop and school #16). It was restored, but not where people asked for it, but father away, 50-100 meters in the other direction. As for us, it is as dark as it was before.

2. We applied to Zeliankhoz to cut down the damaged, dry trees next to which there is a children's playground and parking lot (next to houses #15, 25, 23,31). But they cut down good quality lindens and aspens outrageously, and the bad trees are still there.

3. We asked to repair sidewalks and roads, equip and indicate the crossings and hang road signs. And we received a written reply signed by the deputy chairman of Barysau district executive committee A. Kirut "Such repair works are carried out by the employees of UE Zhyll'o on the basis of the directive of the Barysau traffic police department". Is it really difficult for the deputy chairman to give an order to check the situation on the spot and make a decision?

4. We asked to put a metal fence on both sides of the bypass road from the Vesta shop to the Neighbors shop in order to protect pedestrians. The fence was placed only on one side and not on the other. There is no sidewalk, cars drive almost on pedestrians' feet. The safety of citizens is not a concern of the authorities.

Women with children are outraged that they cannot use carriages on impassable roads, they cannot use playgrounds because they are always used by drunkards, who drink alcohol, beat bottles and swear. The police are never there. The equipment of playgrounds is in bad condition. All roads and sidewalks need repair. Only the section of the road where officials drive is asphalted.

In general, the authorities live for themselves, enjoy life and do not care about all of us. But it' s good that finally there appeared people who are ready to fight the lawlessness of officials. They do not want their children to be slaves and understand that it is necessary to fight for a decent life only together, not in the kitchens.

Long Live Belarus!
