He thanked the Belarusians in it.
German Ambassador Peter Dettmar, who is finishing his diplomatic mission in Belarus, together with his wife Ilka Dettmar recorded a farewell video in the Belarusian language. The couple thanked the Belarusians for their years of work in Minsk, tut.by writes.
"Dear friends, it's time for us to return home. We thank you for the wonderful years together with you in Belarus. Well, that's it, we're off," the Dettmars say in their video.
Dettmar arrived in Minsk as an ambassador in 2015, before that, from 2009 to 2013, he was deputy ambassador of Germany to Belarus.
We remind that the diplomatic missions of a number of European diplomats working in Belarus are coming to an end this summer. Head of the EU Delegation Andrea Viktorin and British Ambassador Fionna Gibb will leave Minsk. It' s still unknown who will come to replace Viktorin, but the British Embassy will be headed by Jacqueline Perkins, a career diplomat with 30 years of experience, mainly in the Arab countries.
