Babruisk Pensioner Came To Lukashenka's Administration With Poster

She wanted the ruler to see her.

The topic of citizens' appeals is one of the most popular in the arsenal of Lukashenka administration head Natallia Kachanava. She does not get tired of reminding the leaders of various ranks of the need to pay attention to the problems of ordinary people. How things are really going in this field is evidenced by the recent story told by Salidarnasts.

On July 10th, Valiantsina Kavalenka, a retired woman from Babruisk, came to the Administration for a reception, but she was never received. Since 2015, she has been at a personal meeting with the first deputy head of administration, Maksim Ryzhankou, twice. An attempt to make an appointment with Kachanava on Wednesday failed. Lawyer Tamara Siarhei, an activist of the civil initiative Against Lawlessness in Courts and Prosecutor's Office, told the details.

The son of the Babruisk pensioner is serving her sentence in colony № 22 of Ivatsevichy. In 2015, he received the legal right to have the regime changed. In addition, he proved this right by his exemplary behavior.

But the prison administration did not consider this possibility. The woman has been to the reception at the Department for Execution of Punishments several times and has passed all the instances. Ryzhankou sent her appeals to the Interior Ministry. From there, Valiantsina Kavalenka received three answers - two from former Minister Ihar Shunevich and one from the current head of the department, Yury Karayeu (which generally backuped the answers of his predecessor).

- Shunevich refused the mother, but he falsified his answer, - Tamara Siarhei claims. According to her, three disciplinary violations were previously registered in respect of Kavalenka's son, which turned him into a persistent violator and deprived him of the right to have his punishment changed.

- But we were able to document that one of the violations was illegally imputed to him. As a result, the Department for Execution of Punishments was forced to remove his status of a persistent violator, thereby returning him to the legal right to have his regime changed, - Tamara Siarhei explained.

According to the lawyer, under the law, it must be explained to the mother of the convicted person what he must do to exercise his right to changing the regime. But for all these years, no one has done so.

- Today she has not been received. And then she took a large sheet of paper and wrote on it: "Head of State! Please meet me at a personal reception". This is not a picket, it is a legal way to address Lukashenka. She tried to stand in front of the reception, but people in civilian clothes took her into the room and tried to seize the poster. At five p.m., the reception office closed, she went outside and got to the 4th entrance of the Administration, where Kachanava receives, - the lawyer described the events.

The story of Valiantsina Kavalenka shows how private story can exceed the scope of the family problem. Now she not only seeks a just solution for her son, but also voices political questions. If Lukashenka's administration cannot influence the Ministry of Internal Affairs, isn't there a cover-up here? Or is the police department no longer under control? The pensioner from Babruisk is going to voice these and other questions in the Administration.
