Photo Fact: Bridge Built For Dazhynki Is About To Crash

The showing off can turn into a tragedy.

Photos of the pedestrian bridge on the Lower Quay in Rechytsa have been published by the Basta telegram-channel.

The first photo shows the pedestrian bridge on the Lower Quay in Rechytsa. There are several cracks in the support post, poor quality concrete and protruding fittings. It is not visible under the water, but in case of drought all the faults immediately arrest attention.

The bridge was built for Dazhynki only 12 years ago. How long do you think it will last? How many people will be injured in case of emergency and who will be responsible for it? Inhabitants of the town asked local officials about it. The answer - it is in the second photo - turned out to be predictable.

"The commission concluded that the position of the reinforced concrete structures does not pose a threat to life and health of people," - the formal reply from the district executive committee says.

Probably, the same answers would have been given if someone had gathered to ask Raukou about the charges for the fireworks on July 3.

"We are mutants right here, near Chernobyl. We can withstand the fall of the bridge, falling into two-meter holes in the roads and the decline in living standards," - Rechytsa residents joke grimly.
