Does Lukashenka Sign Amendments To Criminal Code, Ambit Of Which He Falls Within?

One of the articles criminalizes the glorification of Nazism.

Lukashenka has signed the law "On Changing the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus," the press service of the dictator reports.

The law provides for a reduction of the lower limit of punishment for drug trafficking (Art. 328 of the Criminal Code). At the same time, the term of imprisonment under Part 2 of this article is set from 3 to 8 years, while Part 3 - from 6 to 15 years (before the adoption of the law - from 5 to 8 and from 8 to 15 years, respectively).

The amendments did not undergo voting in the "parliament" right away because of the position of the Interior Ministry. Initially, they were excluded from the second reading, and only six months later the "house of representatives" was able to vote for them.

Also, the law, signed by Lukashenka, introduces criminal liability for the rehabilitation of Nazism.

Up to five years of imprisonment under Article 130 of the Criminal Code will now be facing not only those who are "... intentionally inciting racial, national, religious hatred or discord, humiliating the national honor and dignity", but also those who "intentionally rehabilitate the Nazism".

We remind that in November 1995, Lukashenka praised Hitler in an interview with the German newspaper Handelsblatt.

"The history of Germany is to some extent a cast of the Belarusian history at certain stages. At one time, Germany was raised from the ruins thanks to the very tough power of the known Adolf Hitler... Not only bad things in Germany were connected with Adolf Hitler. The German order was formed for centuries, under Hitler this formation reached its highest point. This is what corresponds to our understanding of the presidential republic and the role of the president in it... Hitler built a powerful Germany thanks to the strong presidential power... Germany rose thanks to the strong power, thanks to the fact that the whole nation managed to consolidate and unite around a strong leader... The head of state - the president, his authority, his leading role come to the first place at this stage... The German history teaches us this," - Lukashenka said in 1995.

In addition, the country introduces criminal liability for inducing an athlete to use doping, as well as for using prohibited substances or methods against an athlete without his knowledge.
