Ministry Of Defense Spokesperson: Where Are Young Scientists' Results?

Raukou's department doubts the need for postgraduate students to be postponed from service in the army.

Andrei Murashou, an official representative of the Ministry of Defense and an employee of the General Staff, said at a round table in Dom Moskvy that talented young scientists would be able to get a deferment from service in the army, even despite the new rules of conscription. Provided they do have potential and talent. At the same time, Andrei Murashou expressed doubts that all those, who are continuing their post-graduate studies in Belarus, can actually be of benefit to the country as scientists, Radio Svaboda reports.

"Where are the young scientists' results? - Andrey Murashou said. - If a citizen is talented, he will have the opportunity to get a deferral from service in the army. There is Lukashenka's decree and there is a possibility to get a deferment."

Also, Murashou says that in the current situation, Belarusians who are on fixed-term military service have to perform more duties than planned.

"Why should someone serve for themselves and for that guy? - said Murashou. - In today's conditions, the soldier is under a more intense load."
