The Deferment Law Causes Acute Reaction Among Conscripts

Activists are preparing a series of pickets.

There are 12 applications submitted for single pickets in Belarus. They demand to cancel or change the "law on deferments". This was reported by Dzianis Tsikhanenka, founder of ProtestBY Telegram channel.

One of the channel participants specified that pickets are planned to be held in Minsk and Mahiliou, the second half of August and early September.

According to Tsikhanenka, it is also planned to choose the place for the rally against "the law on deferments". It is planned to coordinate the issue with the authorities.

The law "On Changing the Laws on the Effective Functioning of the State Military Organization" came into force on August 10. Shortly before, the Ministry of Defense explained that young people enrolled in universities and MA courses this year will still be entitled to a second deferment. However, this will not affect postgraduate students, who officially start education on November 1, when the autumn draft season is over.
