The situation with the Catholic Church in Belarus has become the main topic of negotiations between the chairman of the Commission on Relations with Poles Abroad, Anna Shmidt-Rodzievich, and Archbishop Tadevush Kandrusievich. The meeting with the head of the Belarusian Catholics was the first one within the framework of the visit of Shmidt-Rodzievich to Belarus. She will also meet with representatives of the country's authorities and the leadership of the Union of Poles in Belarus, unrecognized by the authorities in Minsk.

Anna Schmidt-Rodziewicz says she intends to raise issues that have remained unresolved for many years during the talks with the Belarusian authorities. Among other things, the issue of legalizing the Union of Poles, the property of this organization, as well as the issue of education.

"If we want to have good bilateral relations, want to build good neighborly relations between our countries, one of the most important elements is the attitude of the Belarusian authorities towards our compatriots, the Polish national minority in Belarus," - Anna Schmidt-Rodziewicz states.

On Friday and Saturday, August 16 and 17, the chairman of the Commission on Relations with Poles Abroad will also visit the Polish memory places in Hrodna region.
