Mining Reports Again: Visitors To Several Shopping And Business Centers in Minsk Are Evacuated

The reports on mining of buildings in Minsk started to arrive in the morning on August 19.

Visitors of several Minsk shopping centers and office buildings have been evacuated. This is reported in social networks by eyewitnesses.

According to tut.by users, people were evacuated from the following shopping centers: Minsk Gallery, Galileo, Dana Mall, Stalitsa. That was connected with the reports on mining of the buildings. They also evacuated the visitors of the Rubin Plaza business center, where Onlineer's office is located.

"This is the Orwell group! We inform you that the building of the Onliner media company (5-613 Dzerzhinsky Avenue) has been mined (trinitrotoluol). The explosive device is equipped with a timer. The detonation may occur at any time since the opening of this letter. Have a nice flight!" - the site cites the letter that came to the editorial office.

Press Secretary of the Belarusian Interior Ministry Volha Chamadanava reported in Telegram-channel:

"Various organizations in Minsk keep receiving reports about the danger. In this regard, additional security measures are being taken by police officers. Safekeeping, pyrotechnic and investigative teams continue their work in shopping centers, hotels and other facilities.

The reports on mining of buildings in Minsk started to arrive in the morning on August 19. About two thousand people had to be evacuated in the morning. People were taken out of the buildings of the capital's railway station, Minsk National Airport, Yubileinaya, Victoria Olympus, Garni and Belarus hotels. In addition, investigators in Mahiliou searched the workplace of the specialist, where the contact center of the Belarusian Railways is located. There arrived a message about the mining of the capital's railway station.

Sapper-pyrotechnic and investigative teams visited the places. No explosive devices were found at any of the sites. The law enforcement agencies are establishing the circumstances of what happened. A criminal case on knowingly false information about the danger has been initiated following the morning reports on "mining" (part 1, article 340 of the Criminal Code).

Since the beginning of the year, the Investigative Committee has initiated 35 criminal cases on knowingly false reports of danger. 14 persons involved in such reports have been identified and six criminal cases have already resulted in convictions.

Criminal sanctions are imposed for a false report of danger since the age of 14. In addition, the money that the emergency services have spent on checking has to be reimbursed.
