NEXTA Responds To MIA’s Efforts To Refute Having Beaten Hrodna Resident
DZIANIS LUKYANAU

A complaint about the actions of the special police from Dzianis Lukyanau was received back on August 20.

Today, the press-center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs said that the special police had nothing to do with the beating of 36-year-old Dzianis Lukyanau. In particular, the department said that “no statements and complaints from either the man or his relatives were received by the internal affairs bodies.”

The NEXTA blogger in his Telegram channel refutes the statement of the press-center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, publishing documents confirming the fact of a complaint about the actions of the special police.

“Since the press-center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus stated that Dzianis Lukyanau, beaten by the special police near Hrodna, “hadn’t submitted complaints about the police’s actions”, but “got injured by himself,” there’s nothing left for us to publish the complaint in question, which “didn’t reach” the law-enforcement authorities on August 20 - when the victim was already in the hospital. Exactly between the 5th and 6th surgeries. Now Dzianis’s condition has deteriorated sharply.

Moreover, the press-center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs publishes a video from the surveillance camera in the detoxification center, and writes about two ppm of alcohol allegedly found in Lukyanau’s blood test. Only, in the video itself the detainee does not show any signs of such a strong alcohol intoxication. He walks perfectly straight, without staggering. A logical question arises: why was it necessary to take him to the detoxification center? Where are the records from the company car dvr? Who and why needed to “invent” this story? .. ”, wrote the NEXTA blogger.

On July 20, near the village of Karolina near Hrodna, the SunDay automobile festival was held. Dzianis Lukyanau, 36, rested there with friends, they drank together. When they started to disperse, Dzianis said goodbye to the company and was about to leave home - there his wife with three small children was waiting for him. The festival area was patrolled by several dozen police officers, including riot police. As relatives of Dzianis say, it was they who noticed him in a state of intoxication, took him by the arms and led him to a nearby forest. “In the forest, the special policemen immediately began to beat him. As he later told me, they practiced beating techniques on him. They beat him with rubber hose in the buttocks, hips and legs. Then they took him by the arms, dragged to the district police officer’s car and drove to the police department to draw up the protocol. Dzianis was taken from the police department to a sobering station, where he spent the night, and returned home in the morning,” says Darya, the victim’s cousin.

Several days later, the man was hospitalized with necrosis of the muscles and blood poisoning. Over the past weeks Dzianis underwent 6 surgical interventions, they amputated part of his buttocks.
