Zmitser Serada got compensation for police brutality.

Zavadski district court admitted that the actions of the police had caused material damage to Zmitser Serada. In August 2016, riot police broke into his house, knocked out windows and doors and forcibly detained him in front of his wife and a small child. On the same day, it turned out that the man was not involved in the crime of which he was suspected. The family demanded compensation for the money they spent on repairs and therapy. The Interior Ministry did not plead guilty. But the court supported Serada, tut.by says.

- I am very glad that such a decision was made, - Zmitser told the journalists. - Now we will wait for the reasoning part of the decision, after which we will understand what to do.

Three years Minsk resident has been trying to bring the police officers, guilty of having erroneously detained him, to justice. During this time, the criminal case was initiated and closed seven times - on the fact of abuse of office (under Part 3 of Art. 426 of the Criminal Code - punishable by imprisonment for a term of 3 to 10 years). According to Serada, the IC again rejected his request, but the man still intends to seek justice.

We shall remind you that representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Minsk city executive committee and Zavadski district police department, who were questioned in court, unanimously stated that the police officers acted within the framework of the law, and that there was nothing they should apologize to Serada's family for.

The court fully satisfied Zmitser's claims and he now should get Br2,886. According to the law, in such cases the funds for compensation are allocated from the state budget. It should be noted that the court's decision has not come into force; the Interior Ministry has the right to file a complaint.
