Marat Haravy: I Followed Zianon Pazniak's Footsteps

The historian told about the "second discovery" of the national memory.

Historian and journalist Marat Haravy showed Kurapaty - the NKVD death factory - from a new angle. His book "The NKVD Killed in Kuropaty" is a continuation of Zianon Pazniak's story about the terror committed by the NKVD in the 30-40s against our people.

"Zianon Pazniak discovered Kurapaty. He is the discoverer. He proved that the NKVD killed. He proved it. And I wanted to continue, to show how it was, how it worked, how this death factory worked," - Marat Haravy said to Radio Racyja.

According to Marat Haravy, the state, where the best people, the foundation of the nation, have been killed off, cannot be strong.

"That's why such a country falls apart at the first abrupt turn. As the soil has been removed. And they started: America did it, someone else... It's ridiculous. How can the state exist if it has destroyed its soil?

According to Zianon Pazniak, 250 to 500 thousand people were shot in Kurapaty.
