Suspects In The Brazen Robbery Of Yakhont Jewelry Store In Minsk Arrested

They sold some of the stolen jewelry in Russia.

Minsk police solved the case of the robbery of the jewelry shop Yakhont. Tut.by reports it with reference to the Interior Ministry.

September 3, police detained suspects in the case of the robbery at the jewelry store Yakhont in Kisialiou Street in Minsk.

- At present, investigative actions with their involvement are in progress. Searches have been carried out at the places of residence of the defendants. The involvement of detainees in other crimes is also being checked – they may be involved in at least three more robberies of private households in Minsk," - the police said.

Some of the stolen items were found in the hiding place at the apartment belonging to one of the suspects' mother. In addition, plastic ties were found - the same were used to disable the Yakhont store employee.

Later, the information was added by the Investigative Committee. The press service of the agency reported that the suspects were 36 and 37 years old. They sold some of the stolen jewelry in Russia.

The IC office also reported that the robbers had taken not only the jewelry out of the store, but also the server on which the video surveillance recordings of the jewelry store were stored. The suspects threw it later into Svisloch, but the police managed to lift it from the river.

We remind you that at 11.40 a.m. on Saturday, August 17, two men entered the jewelry store in Kisialiou street, sprayed pepper gas, stole all the jewelry from the showcases and left. This was the fourth robbery of the Yakhont store.

After the incident, a criminal case was initiated under Part 2 of Article 207 (Robbery committed by a group of persons).

The damage, caused to the store, is more than a million Belarusian rubles.
