Why Does Lukashenka Like To Lie So Much?

More and more dictator's statements contradict the reality.

The ruler's schedule has been full of meetings and speeches in recent days. And together with that Lukashenka has made a lot of statements that contradict the reality, as Belsat reports. This includes bragging that Elon Musk himself gave him a car, as well as statements about 150 thousand refugees and the flow of weapons from Ukraine. The border control of our southern neighbor has already refuted the words of the ruler of Belarus. Why does Lukashenka lie publicly?

There are new revelations that Aliaksandr Lukashenka made at the meeting with selected Minsk schoolchildren. It turns out that a Tesla car was given to him personally by Elon Musk when he saw that the head of Belarus was riding a two-wheeled electric motorcycle. It sounds like another tale, of which there have been many over the past 25 years.

Take alone Lukashenka's words, voiced in the second half of the 90s! He claimed that he, the ruler of independent Belarus, who was born in 1954, had lost his father during the Second World War!

"The opportunity to say whatever you want and get away with that - this is probably the funniest thing for him about his work. And we wouldn't have had enough airtime to remember all those absurdities, gibberish and just lies, which he voices," - political observer Vital Tsyhankou comments.

Lukashenka spoke at the opening of the UN conference on combating terrorism the day before. There he pointed out the danger coming from Ukraine to Belarus:

"We should close the border, even more than with the North Atlantic bloc, which has always been our number one enemy since ancient times. And today we have closed the border with our people tightly. Why is that? Because of the flow of weapons coming in."

The information was refuted by the border control services of the neighboring country. They say the border control is working as usually. Since the beginning of the year, there have been 20 attempts to import weapons from Belarus to Ukraine, while only 18 attempts in the opposite direction.

"(...) We have registered a decrease in the flow of weapons. (...) If we classify these weapons, then only one is a firearm, while the rest is hunting weapons, cold stun guns and stun guns," – the spokesman for the Border Guard Service of Ukraine Andriy Demchenko said in an interview with UNIAN.

Lukashenka also made another false statement about refugees from Ukraine:

"Europeans can't share 2 thousand migrants - old people and children are stuck in the sea, fleeing from the problems we created in their homeland. We do not accept them, let them die. And 150 thousand people who are not strangers to us, came to our country."

But, as evidenced by the National Statistical Committee of Belarus, the total number of migrants, not even from Ukraine, but from all CIS countries, who arrived in Belarus over the past five years, has not even reached the level of 90 thousand. According to the latest data of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, only 2649 citizens of Ukraine received refugee status.

Vital Tsyhankou, a political observer, said:

"This shows once again the undemocratic nature of the Belarusian political system. In any other case, the politician would bear certain responsibility for his statements. Aliaksandr Lukashenka, I repeat, says whatever he wants on any topic. Quite seldom the truth, quite often the lies. And he thinks that he is allowed to do everything, and he won't have to hold responsibility for that."
