Alena Talstaya: We Have Strong Resources, But Above All, We Must Protect Our Independence

"Street protests are the only format of protest left to the Belarusian people," - co-chairman of the Razam Solidarity Movement Alena Talstaya says in the commentary to Radio Racyja. According to her, as long as there is an opportunity to defend the country's independence by political methods - it must be done, because Lukashenka is interested exclusively in his own benefit.

"The only thing he wants to do is to keep his power at the expense of the money he has from Moscow. But the Belarusians have a very large potential, we have great resources in our people, whom we are now losing. We could build up our economy quite well without any preferences, without ceding our independence to exchange it for oil or gas from Moscow.

We have that resource, we have an excellent geopolitical position, which would give us the opportunity to develop," - Alena Talstaya states.

It should be noted that the content of the 31st action plan of further "deepening of integration" between Belarus and Russia remains unknown. At the same time, the Kremlin forces the official Minsk to make concessions, using economic pressure as an argument. Since January 1, 2020, Russia has stopped supplying oil to our country, as the previous contract has expired, and the parties have not yet been able to agree on the new one.
