Ukrtatnafta Asks Zelensky not to Import Oil Products from Belarus

Ukraine does not want to buy oil products from Mozyr refinery.

Ukrtatnafta said that Unkranian Naftohaz agreed "toxic operations" with companies. There are companies among these shareholders, which contributed to the annexation of a part of Ukraine, nv.ua reported.

Ukrtatnafta has submitted an official letter to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, the secretary of the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine, Oleksiy Danylov, and the chairman of the board of Ukrainian Naftohaz, Andriy Kobolyov, regarding Naftohaz's participation in importing oil products from sources related to Russian companies under sanctions.

Ukrtatnafta says that the matter concerns the decision of the governing bodies of Naftogaz and Ukrtransnafta to conclude a contract for the supply of oil products produced by Mozyr Refinery from the Belarusian Oil Company to Naftogaz Oil Trading Ltd, a private company established by Ukrtransnafta following the decision of Naftogaz of Ukraine.

"The initiation of private activities under the management of actually state-owned companies may cause damage to the activities of state-owned companies. The increase in oil product imports is a decrease in the production of oil products in Ukraine and a decline in the volume of oil transportation by Ukrtransnafta," the letter says.

Ukrtatnafta is interested in expanding the volume of oil deliveries to the Kremenchug refinery, "but has established a private enterprise and agreed on a non-alternative contract with a foreign supplier of oil products without even applying to the domestic producer for a price offer".

"The shareholders of the Mozyr Refinery are Russian oil companies Rosneft and Gazpromneft, and it is 100% dependent on Russian oil supplies. In Ukraine, Rosneft and Gazpromneft are under sanctions according to the decision of 02.05.2018 of the National Security and Defence Council. Ukrtatnafta believes that the abovementioned trade transactions, if not directly violating the law, are at least 'toxic'. Since the abovementioned trade transactions were initiated by the Ukrainian state-owned companies Ukrainian Naftohaz and Ukrtransnafta with the companies that have sanctioned companies as shareholders, which promoted annexation of part of the territory of Ukraine," the letter said.

According to Ukrtransnafta, Naftogaz violates Article 4 of the Law of Ukraine on Oil and Gas in terms of sales of oil and oil products, which should be sold exclusively at exchange auctions.
