Lukashenka Will Be Tried For Treason

The dictator actually takes on another criminal article.

Today, coordinator of the European Belarus civil campaign Maksim Viniarski was released after 15 days of administrative arrest at the Center for Isolation of Law-Breakers in the Akrestsin Street in Minsk.

The activist was sentenced to 15 days of arrest for participating in the actions in defense of the independence of Belarus, which took place on December 7 and 8 in Minsk.

Maksim Viniarski spent the holidays of the Catholic Christmas and New Year in prison. The activist commented upon his arrest for participating in the actions against “integration” with the Russian Federation, for the Charter97.org news website:

- This is the fourth New Year, which I celebrate in the Belarusian prison.

Lukashenka expressively showed that he is a “guarantor” of not the Belarusian independence, but the Belarusian occupation. This can be seen by his attitude to those people who came out to show that they want independence for Belarus, and defend our statehood.

Lukashenka actually takes on another criminal article: “treason”. And under this article, he will also be convicted - both for abducting and killing people, and for the usurpation of power.

- What helped to endure the New Year’s in the Akrestsin Street prison?

- The solidarity of our people. And the fact that the police took us in an unknown direction before our release shows how they fear our solidarity.

I thank everyone who sent letters and greeting cards, wishing me Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Unfortunately, not everything reached the addressee. For example, I received only the second letter from Dzmitry Paliyenka, they did not pass me the first one. And when they took me out of the Akrestsin Street detention center, the jailers took away from me my “prison diary” - a notebook where I wrote down everything that had happened over the course of 15 days.
