They are urged to refuse to perform on the stage of the Kupalauski Theater.

The Belarusian Foundation for Cultural Solidarity called on the team of the dance ensemble Kharoshki not to perform on the Kupalauski Theater stage.

The statement also notes that the team is under pressure from the authorities.

"The conductor of the Kharoshki ensemble, Ivan Erameevich, signed an open letter from cultural figures and was dismissed from his post today.

A split occurs in the team due to administrative pressure.

Ivan was forced to leave because of his civic position; those who remained are persuaded to loyalty and strikebreaking," the foundation reports.

The statement notes that the orchestra has refused to perform at the Kupalauski Theater, the actors of which have resigned in protest.

"The concerts will be held with phonogram, which is a shame for the ensemble, which has always worked with live sound. It's a shame that the concert program includes a performance by the Kharoshki children's studio. Some parents don't want their kids to go on stage.

If the Kharoshki's performance on the stage of the Kupalauski Theater takes place, it will forever remain a dirty spot in the ensemble's history and will ensure its sad status of "traitors." Its international reputation will be irreparably damaged.

We call on the Kharoshki's performers and personally the People's Artist of Belarus Valiantsina Hajeva to refuse this performance and thus show solidarity with the Kupalautsy, the dismissed conductor of their team, and all cultural workers who suffered because of their beliefs.

In turn, we are ready to comprehensively support the Kharoshki's performers and protect them from administrative repression," the statement says.
