Linas Linkevičius Calls For International Investigation With Regard To Lukashenka Regime

The Lithuanian Foreign Minister believes that the crimes of the Belarusian authorities should be investigated.

In an interview with the Delfi portal, Lithuanian Foreign Minister Linas Linkevičius called for an investigation of the crimes committed by the Lukashenka regime.

- We are discussing this here with you, but people are in prison, and violence is used against them. We receive so much information now that even if a small part of it is true, it is already too much. Sanctions will be sanctions, but an international investigation needs to be carried out, cases should be instituted against those who committed violence against fellow citizens. In the center of Europe in the 21st century, this cannot remain unanswered.

I am surprised how brave the people in Belarus are, despite all the repressions. Probably, they want to provoke Belarusians, but these people are demonstratively peaceful. We remember the picture in which they take off their shoes before standing on a bench in the street. Everything is exceptionally peaceful. And it’s hard to understand why they send riot police against them, with gas and stun grenades, and torture them so brutally,” Linas Linkevičius said.
