Expert: It Will Not Be Possible to Return Belarus to the State "as Before the Elections"

The overwhelming majority of Belarusians are still determined to fight for regime change.

A change of power is a common thing and an iron law for democratic countries, political observer Aliaksandr Klaskouski writes in his telegram channel.

No matter how indignant he is, Donald Trump will leave and free the White House for Joe Biden. But for Lukashenka, the thought of parting with the chair is obviously unbearable. The Belarusian dictator is constantly gnawing at the feeling that they want to take away the country he is so used to commanding.

Lukashenka's intention to retain power at any cost obviously outweighs all rational considerations. He even ordered not to let the "smart Belarusians" who had left back into the country. Indeed, let the stupid people plus AMAP remain - isn't it the ideal country for a life-long rule?

This, of course, is a bitter banter. In fact, a lot of those who have everything all right with their brains, hands, morality, and personal courage remain and will remain in the country. Many Belarusians are still determined to fight for regime change, fair elections, and a free country.

The ruling elite does not take into account or does not want to recognize the seriousness and scale of such moods, shifts in the mass consciousness. And that could let them down a lot. No matter how hard you try to clean up sedition, you will not be able to return Belarus to the state "as before the elections."

The police state is very expensive. It is unlikely that such a model will last long with the depletion of the regime's resources, external and internal pressure on it.

The dissatisfaction of a large part of citizens will not go anywhere, and the coming economic hardships will warm it up.
