The Regime's Agony

The cockroach is committing more and more absurd actions.

The Belarusian authorities claim that they have allegedly identified all the protesters since August 9. Meanwhile, since Monday, Belarusians have been unable to leave the country without special reasons, writes Nezavisimaya Gazeta.

The fact that the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus has created a database of participants in unauthorized actions was announced on the air of local television by the head of the department for the protection of law and order and prevention of the public security police of the Municipal Department of Internal Affairs of the Minsk City Executive Committee Aliaksandr Kupchenia. It is being updated by identifying individuals in videos filmed by security forces during protests.

Local observers suggested that the ability to recognize faces to the Belarusian authorities was provided by the Synesis IT company, which deals with video analytics systems. This assumption was the reason for the inclusion of the company in the EU sanctions list.

Simultaneously with the promise to identify everyone, the authorities deprived the Belarusians of the opportunity to leave the country along the so-called humanitarian corridor. We are talking about an opportunity for those who have been subjected to reprisals to leave for nearby countries - Poland and Lithuania, even without a visa.

From Monday, December 21, you can leave Belarus only through the airport (where they will definitely ask for both a visa and a basis for leaving), and good reasons are needed to cross the border by land. For example, a residence permit in another country or a work contract.

Some analysts believe that the authorities' decision is a reaction to the investigations of the crimes of the Belarusian security forces that have begun in the jurisdictions of other countries. In particular, the first such process started in Lithuania. To start it, the victim of the crime must be in the territory of the country where it will be investigated. The closure of borders complicates this process, although it certainly does not make it impossible.

Interestingly, such actions of the authorities do not cause pessimism on the part of the protesters. And many experts speak about the regime's agony, despite the intentions of Aliaksandr Lukashenka to keep the defense relying on the security forces.
