Doctor At Iuye Hospital: Run Away, Coronavirus Is On The Loose Here

What is happening in the district center of the Hrodna region.

The fourth coronavirus case has been confirmed in the Hrodna region. Patients began to be discharged en masse from a hospital in Iuye, where the local resident infected with the coronavirus is staying, Radio Svaboda informs.

As it became known to Radio Svaboda, the man infected with the coronavirus comes from the Iuye district, he has a business there, and is engaged in furniture and transportation in Belarus. The man has a wife and small children.

Chief State Sanitary Physician of the Hrodna region Mikalai Kendysh told the newspaper Vecherniy Grodno, that the 50-year-old businessman did not go abroad, he went only to Minsk. He was diagnosed with the coronavirus when he was already in hospital with pneumonia.

Another resident of Iuye, whose son is now undergoing planned examination at the Iuye hospital, has studied the situation in the hospital.

“The third floor of the [hospital] has been completely cleared off the sick and weak patients. Everyone has been sent home. It was happening right in my eyes, I saw everything, how they were taking away the elderly people with strokes, men, women, non-walking people - everyone from the neurology department. They have cleaned everything completely, the entire third floor. Everyone was discharged,” the source said.

According to him, both the patient with the coronavirus and his relatives were hospitalized.

His son, like other patients, cannot go for walks. Visits or parcels for them are not allowed.

“They’ve been blocked for a whole week, they’re not let anywhere, not outside, nowhere. They can’t even go around the hospital. Yesterday [Sunday, March 29] a lot of people came, the commissions from Hrodna arrived. My son said that they were stomping, running around, it was such a fuss there yesterday. A doctor I know saw me, and she said: “We are discharging everyone tonight. Run away from here, the coronavirus is on the loose. So she said to me,” a resident of Iuye retells.

“I can’t give any comments now,” said Ivan Hlaz, Head Physician of the Iuye hospital.

“I can’t comment on this situation yet. We had a planning meeting today, and so far we have been instructed not to give any information ... Yes, there is a case, but I can’t tell you anything else yet,” said Anastasia Zhamoita, Acting Chief Sanitary Physician of the Iuye District.

In the Hrodna region, three more cases of coronavirus were previously reported: a 62-year-old Hrodna resident who returned from Italy, and two young men who arrived from Sweden.
