The petition mentions the death of actor Viktar Dashkevich from coronavirus.

Representatives of the Mahiliou theatrical community have initiated a petition to the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Culture demanding to introduce an urgent quarantine in the Belarusian theaters. At the time of writing the petition had already been signed by over 550 people.

Representatives of the Mahiliou theatrical community say that there's still no quarantine in Belarus and the current restrictive measures can't be considered sufficient, Belsat writes.

"Continuing to work in a routine mode, even taking into account the preventive measures, we endanger the health and life of spectators, theater workers, their relatives and friends. We consider it unacceptable!" - the address says.

The petition mentions the death of actor Viktar Dashkevich from coronavirus. "We are afraid that this case may not become a one-off", - the authors emphasize.

According to the authors of the petition, a quarantine regime should be introduced in all theaters in Belarus (that is, shows of the current repertoire, tours, rehearsals and other events must be cancelled) for at least two weeks. They also ask to keep salaries for the theater workers, reduce revenue and attendance targets, as well as to apply tax benefits.

"We also ask to organize, if possible, financial support from the state for these institutions, if the situation becomes critical. However, we ask that all possible financial resources be primarily directed to combat the spread of coronavirus," - the document says.
