WHO Called On Belarusian Authorities To Introduce Quarantine

The main objective is to slow down the growth of coronavirus infections.

WHO representative in Belarus Batyr Berdyklychev says it's important to take stronger measures of social distancing in Belarus in connection with the coronavirus pandemic, tut.by writes.

Batyr Berdyklychev notes that there is a sharp increase in the number of cases in Belarus.

- If we look at the experience of the countries, which have passed this way, there is an exponential increase in cases from week 4-6. And by the 8th week they are approaching the peak. For Belarus, this is the next stage. This is the stage of infecting among the local population, not of imported cases. We expect further growth, - he says.

According to him, it is important to take further measures of social distancing - from seating - as in the Oval Hall - to more restrictive, transferring to distance learning, banning mass events, quarantine. Quarantine alone does not stop the virus from spreading. The goal is to slow the rate of infection.

We remind that the leaders of the Belarusian opposition and civil society urged Belarusians to join the People's Quarantine, which will last until the end of April.
