‘Faded Away Within Hours: 36-Year-Old Minsk Resident Died of Coronavirus’

‘Faded Away Within Hours: 36-Year-Old Minsk Resident Died of Coronavirus’

According to relatives, the man has had excellent health all his life.

A resident of Minsk suddenly fell ill at work on April 4. He began to choke. He wasn't rescued. He died the same day, reports Radio Svaboda.

"They said he was tested positive for COVID"

36-year-old N. (relatives ask not to give names - neither the deceased nor their own) came from Ivye, Hrodna region. He lived in Minsk.

According to the relatives, he went to work on Saturday, April 4. In the afternoon he felt sick and started choking. He managed to call his wife, she called an ambulance. Colleagues came to the rescue. The doctors took the man to an ambulance hospital.

"He had an intracerebral haemorrhage. That's how he got to the hospital. They said it was pulmonary involvement and did not say what kind was it. On Monday [April 6] they said he had a positive test for COVID-19 and bilateral pneumonia triggered an insult," one of the relatives said.

The man died in the evening. Four or five hours passed before he felt sick and died.

According to the relatives, the death certificate says that the deceased had heart disease, bilateral pneumonia and insult. When the body was returned from the morgue, the relatives were told that the man had a positive test for coronavirus. They told to bury him in a closed coffin. That's what they did.

The wife of the deceased, who had previously talked to her husband, took the coronavirus test and is waiting for the results. She's in self-isolation. Because of that, she couldn't attend the funeral.

"He had no temperature, no dry cough, no chest ache."

The relatives don't understand how it could have happened. According to them, N. had good health all his life, no chronic diseases and never stayed in a hospital, had no complaints about minor health problems. He also felt good lately. Even in the morning before his death; there was nothing to indicate health problems.

"N. had no complaints. "He had no temperature, no dry cough, no chest ache. He had only a slight runny nose for three days," said N.'s relative.

The family doesn't know when and where a man could contract it and get sick. He did not use public transport, has not travelled abroad recently. He used to work in a small team. His colleagues continue to go to the office, they are not sent to remote work.

"It's very scary. It's also scary that you become a leper... "We have to go to work. We do not have a quarantine. We have to work," complains a relative.

Head of the City Clinical Pathology Bureau Katerina Kovalevich told journalists that information about the diagnosis of patients could be issued only in the hospital.

The City Emergency Hospital refused to provide information about the specific deceased, whether he had coronavirus, and asked to appeal to the Ministry of Health.
