Lukashenka, speaking at the Minsk Tractor Plant four hours before the events in Hrodna, announced the plan of the provocation against Siarhei Tsikhanouski, the head of the initiative group to collect signatures for nominating his wife Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya as a presidential contender.

The Shklou ruler said the following yesterday, alluding to Siarhei Tsikhanouski:

“People started a fuss there, some were walking everywhere, shouting. Recently, a spokeswoman reported to me: that man insulted the policeman when he made a remark. They come, such cool guys, all in jeeps - 10-12 cars each. They arrive in the city they don’t live in, line up and go along squares, streets ...

They came down on that kid, the police officer, like a ton of bricks. He probably only came to work this year, he’s someone’s child. Why coming down on him like this? And then, they are risky people, I would be more careful with the police in their place. These are corporate people. They will find the opportunity to answer. It’s not easy for me to restrain them. They are picking fights. Provocation is the best advertisement. They understand that. ”

As you know, there have been no conflicts with the police before the provocation in Hrodna at pickets to collect signatures.

Four hours after Lukashenka’s statement, at about 8 p.m., Siarhei Tsikhanouski was detained by riot police during an election picket in Hrodna.

The circumstances of the detention repeated the scenario voiced by Lukashenka.

Many analysts have long noted the inappropriate behavior of the Belarusian dictator.

Obviously, Lukashenka confused the scenario of the future “operation”, which he learnt from the spokeswoman, with past events. But no one decided to cancel the provocation.

Belarusian blogger Siarhei Tsikhanouski is so popular in Belarus that the authorities were afraid even to register the initiative group to nominate him as a presidential candidate while he was under administrative arrest.

However, the initiative group of his wife Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya was registered. In many cities of Belarus, thousands of people came out to sign in support of the Tsikhanouskis.

According to many online surveys, the rating of Aliaksandr Lukashenka is 1-3%, and 30-50% of respondents are ready to vote for Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya.
