We're All On The Same Side

We're All On The Same Side

And Lukashenka is convulsing.

Every day, Lukashenka is vigorously digging his own grave. The latest threats against the Belarusians are taking away even the insignificant 3% of his rating. The loser despised by his own people, who has ruined the country, who has no support either in the west or in the east, is reluctant to admit the obvious and is convulsing.

In this situation, it is important to stay calm and confident in our own strength. And I must tell you that I liked the reaction of presidential candidate Viktar Babaryka to the threats of the madman during one of the meetings with the voters:

"Someone, no matter who, has appropriated the right to speak on behalf of the country. Someone believes that the Belarusians are his serfs, who can be maltreated. I want to say that the Belarusians are a nation with a rich history, the Belarusians have always determined their lives themselves. And no one has the right to appropriate our country.

Someone scares us with aggression, bloodshed and victims. I can say for sure that the Belarusians are peaceful people. They will not allow any bloodshed, no matter from whom this threat comes. And the Belarusians have the strength to put anyone on heels.

Yes, carefully, but the message is obvious. And the middle-of-the-road candidates, who do not call themselves oppositionists, already understand that in the present Belarusian realities it will not be possible to be "above the battle". For Lukashenka, anyone who would just look askew at him is already an enemy and a candidate for imprisoning. Therefore, there will be a severe fight and one should be fully aware of it.

There's no way one could get clear away. One can, of course, write complaints to the CEC. But it is also necessary to stand for political prisoners, and to insist on the release of opposition leaders Siarhei Tsikhanouski and Mikalai Statkevich, and support all those illegally arrested during this election campaign.

And the main thing is not to be afraid to admit the obvious: there is no other way to protect the votes of voters when the fake elections are held, except for the Square.

Lukashenka's threats have made us realize that we are all on the same side of the fence. Now it is important to get rid of the dictatorship, to save ourselves and the country.

And if Viktar Babaryka gets a win against Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, gets the support of the majority of the population and helps people to defend their choice - fine. I agree with European Belarus coordinator Zmitser Bandarenka, who believes that "during the transition period Babaryka may become an acceptable figure both for Russia and the West."

It is important to get rid of the dictator, return the democratic Constitution of 1994, hold free parliamentary elections and start rebuilding the country anew - in conditions of healthy democratic competition and freedom of mass media.

I think that such free elections can be held by the end of 2020, and all political forces in the country will take part in them.
