"My Daughter And I Shouted "Long Live Belarus!" Out Of Window At Every Red Light, And Drivers Were Supporting Us"

The Minskers have reported on yesterday's protest rally.

On July 14 and 15, Belarusians went out to protest across the country, demanding to register alternative presidential candidates. The "Basta!" telegram channel published readers' stories about yesterday's protest rally in Minsk.

"I'm furious, - a reader writes. - My husband went yesterday to file a complaint with the CEC. They detained him, though he was just standing in the queue.

Our daughter is 9 years old. Since April, the child has been staying home with her husband. I'm a nurse, I have to work today. We have no relatives in Minsk. How can I leave my child at home alone?

My husband called, said he'd be kept at least 24 hours. What kind of government is this!?"

"I heard car horns last evening, - a resident of Minsk writes. - I did not get it at first why they were honking. But the sound of the horns is not possible to confuse with anything! It's as if they were saying "Long Live Belarus." My daughter and I were shouting "Long Live Belarus" at every red light out of the window, and drivers were supporting us! They were honking the horn and clapping! It was great!"
