The authorities have decided to replace the chief sociologist of Belarus.

Hennadz Karshunou, chief sociologist of Belarus and director of the Institute of Sociology of the National Academy of Sciences, went on vacation for a month and a half before the end of the contract, from where he will return to another job.

Karshunou has already notified his subordinates about his dismissal, Artsiom Harbatsevich's telegram-channel reported, AFN informs.

Last Monday, Karshunou wrote a long explanatory note at the request of the presidential administration, where he disclosed several topics at once: why he disclosed the April sociological data on Minsk to the media; why he can't stop leaks of the results of social surveys in the telegrams; why he failed to ensure the presence of "correct" sociological data in the public domain.

"Provision of sociological data to the mass media today cannot lead to the desired result - stabilization of public life, due to low trust to the above-mentioned data. Their publication will cause a wave of indiscriminate criticism and unhealthy attention of the active part of society," - the Trykatazh telegram channel quotes Karshunou's explanatory note.

Karshunou is replaced by a more systematic Uladzimir Litvinovich, who currently holds the post of head of information and analytical department of the Academy of Management.

According to the polls of the Institute of Sociology, in March-April 2020, the level of trust to Lukashenka did not exceed 24%, while the level of trust to the CEC - 11.1%, Karshunou reported to the media.
