President Of European Council Condemns Actions Of Belarusian Authorities

Charles Michel stated that violence against protesters in Belarus is unacceptable.

Charles Michel, President of the European Council, commented on the latest events in Belarus,and said that violence against protesters is unacceptable.

It is reported by Evropeyskaya Pravda.

“Violence against protesters is not the answer .Freedom of speech, freedom of assembly, basic human rights must be upheld,” Charles Michel wrote on Twitter.

As previously reported, Prime Minister of Poland Mateusz Morawiecki appealed to the Presidents of the European Council and the European Commission to convene an extraordinary EU summit on the situation in Belarus.

Earlier, the presidents of Lithuania and Poland, Gitanas Nausėda and Andrzej Duda, appealed to the Belarusian authorities to respect democratic standards, and not use force against participants in the mass protests.
