The Lithuanian and Belarusian peoples are united by 800 years of common history.
Mayor of Vilnius Remigijus Šimašius addressed the Belarusians on the eve of important events for the country:
- The Lithuanian and Belarusian peoples are united by 800 years of common history. We have always taken the side of freedom, justice, and the rule of law. Everyone knows that the election will be held in Belarus soon. I wish and urge the Belarusian people to make their choice. A choice that will take us back on this path, where we will together stand on the side of justice, the rule of law, and freedom. I also call on all citizens of Lithuania not to forget that Belarusians yearn for freedom, and they need our support. We can be on the side of the truth together.
