One of the Three Furnaces Does Not Work at the Belarusian Metallurgical Plant

The pipe providing a gas outlet collapsed.

On the night of 30 to 31 August, the work of the steel-making furnace No. 2 was stopped at the Belarusian Metallurgical Plant. The pipe collapsed, providing a gas outlet. This information was confirmed by the press service of the enterprise to Euroradio.

Viktar Starkou, Deputy General Director for Metallurgical Production, said that it is planned to restart the furnace in five days:

"Furnace # 2 was originally scheduled for overhaul in September. It was just planned to change the gas duct. But because it broke down yesterday, we divided this overhaul into two parts. We plan to start up furnace # 2 within five days and eliminate some issues with the gas duct. One section of it has already arrived, we plan to install it soon. And the rest will be repaired. The second part of the repair, 15 days, will be carried out in October. "

Yesterday Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Yury Nazarauin in an interview with "Main Air" estimated the losses from the two-hour strike at the Belarusian Metallurgical Plant at 1.5 million rubles. On 17 August, all furnaces were stopped at BMZ. "This is a lot of money," Nazarau said about that strike.

In his opinion, the loading of the furnaces was stopped by "external forces" who "broke through to our plant."
