They also expressed support for the Belarusian people.

According to "European Pravda", this is stated in a joint statement published by the Norwegian government after the meeting of the ministers of the Nordic countries on the island of Bornholm in Denmark.

The foreign ministers of Denmark, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, and Finland attended the meeting to discuss international politics and security.

In a joint communique, the ministers "in the strongest possible terms" condemn the poisoning of Alexei Navalny and call on Russia to conduct a transparent investigation, involving experts from the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons.

"The ministers express deep concern about the use of a banned nerve agent on the territory of one of the neighboring countries. Russia must immediately disclose all information about how a chemical attack was possible on its territory," they note.

The ministers add that any such incidents violate international law, and secondly, attacks on opposition representatives are unacceptable.

The foreign ministers also expressed support and solidarity with Belarusians, who are fighting for respect for their fundamental rights and the right to free and fair elections.

They call on the Belarusian authorities to stop repressions, release the detainees, and agree to a broad national dialogue.

"The foreign ministers emphasize the need to quickly impose sanctions by the EU and countries that share this position, against those guilty of electoral fraud and repression," the statement added.

Other security issues were also discussed.
