Lithuanian Foreign Minister About Lukashenka's Words: Inadequate Reaction Of Inadequate Person
LINAS LINKEVIČIUS

Linas Linkevičius has commented on the usurper's raving about closing the borders.

Lukashenka's statements about closing the borders and strengthening their control are an inadequate reaction, Lithuanian Foreign Minister Linas Linkevičius believes, delfi.lt reports.

"Such statements have already been made before - that the tractors will be sent to other ports, followed by clarification that it will be if Russia offers the same conditions, etc. I think, even now we should wait, see what it means - closure of borders for cargoes, people or something else," - the minister told LRT on Friday morning.

He warned that the neighboring country's economy is "on the verge of bankruptcy," so all such steps should be taken in a balanced and responsible manner, otherwise they will harm Belarus itself.

Linas Linkevičius expressed concern about the announcement that the army would be moved to the borders. "There were statements as if half of the army had been thrown into the defence of the western border, as if there were some threat or possibility of attack. This is an inadequate response to the situation by an inadequate person," - the minister said.

On Thursday night, Lukashenka said he is closing the borders with the West and tightening the control on the border with Ukraine. In addition, he said he is sending "half the army" to strengthen the western borders. On Friday morning, head of the Lithuanian State Border Guard Service Rustam Lyubaev said that the traffic across the border with Belarus goes as usual.
