Italian Strike Affected Factories

The output of buses has decreased by half.

After the elections on August 9, workers of MTZ, BelAZ, MZKT and other large state enterprises announced about strikes, which turned into Italian strikes.

Radio Svaboda has taken a look at how this has affected the economy.

BelAZ

22 - so many dump trucks were produced in Belarus in August, which is an anti-record. In July, for example, 32 trucks were produced, and in January - 42.

In 2019, the net profit of the plant was 256 million rubles. The plant has 65 million loans, it employs 11,000 people.

MAZ

199 - so many dump trucks for operation in off-road conditions were produced in Belarus in August; MAZ is the main producer of these products. In July, 207 such trucks were produced, and in June - 255.

The production of buses has also decreased: 68 buses were produced in August against 146 in July.

Large Belarusian plants have millions of debts. According to the esperts, difficulties at the enterprises began in spring, because of the coronavirus.
