A Pathetic Ruse

This has happened before. The adventurer, posing as the rightful ruler, seized the throne and ruled for some time. In Russian history, all this usually ended badly. But it began well - the people rejoiced, the army welcomed. Some believed that the impostor was really a murdered prince, some did not believe, but everyone expected the end of the turmoil, peace, and prosperity from the new government. It is clear that they did get it, and expectations were dispelled in the same way as the ashes of the murdered thief.

In the old Russian language, the word "tat" was used for a thief, and theft was called "tatba." The word "vor" was the name given to political criminals who appropriated not wallets and horses, but state power. "Vor" in the kingdom is always a painful test for the people, both in the 16th century and in the 20th.

But it has never happened before that the new ruler hid the most glorious moment of his life - his entry into power, what we call in the Latin manner the inauguration. It has always been the coronation, taking of the oath was a truly public, national action. And the Roman emperor was raised on the shield by soldiers, and the Byzantine basileus was declared a hippodrome, and then the patriarch crowned him in Hagia Sophia.

On the other hand, Lukashenka concealed his new entry into power like "tat" and "vor" at the same time. He secretly declared himself the ruler of a people who hates him and whom he is scared to seizures. To whom he swore, does it really matter, in what language? Whom did he think to convince, whom to seduce, whom to charm? Nobody.

Both he and his associates know that his lies, appropriation of power by force, and cruelties will never be forgiven or forgotten by the people of Belarus. The formalities of elevation to power mean nothing without the subjects' approval, without voluntarily transferring their will to the new ruler.

There was nothing of the kind in Minsk today.

There was a set of magical actions that were supposed to ensure power over the country without the country's consent. But magic, any magic has no power against the truth, courage, and the will to be worthy of the word "human." The people of Belarus have truth, they have courage, they have tremendous dignity. All Lukashenka's tricks are pitiful, truly childish attempts to pass himself off as a ruler.

No, he is no longer a ruler. He is a thief on the throne. And his fate, his close fate will be exactly the same as was the fate of other usurpers who pretended to be legitimate rulers.

I even feel sorry for Aliaksandr Lukashenka. After all, he was once a man, and now, in his inauguration, he is even more pathetic than when he ran in a bulletproof vest with a Kalashnikov in front of outraged citizens. Now he is miserable as never before, and now he is truly powerless.
