BSUCA Student: It Is Impossible To Accept Awards From Such Authority
Patrycia Svitsina

Patrycia Svitsina publicly refused Lukashenka's scholarship.

Recently, Patrycia Svitsina, a third-year student of the Department of Ethnology and Folklore of the Belarusian State University of Culture and Arts, publicly refused the Lukashenka scholarship for talented youth.

The girl told the website Charter97.org that she considers it impossible to accept any awards from the authorities, which are destroying their people and care only about keeping the chair.

Patrycia made this speech publicly during the presentation of the diploma.

"In our university and many others, there are still many people who remain aloof from what is happening. And I decided that this would be a good example or an impetus for action. Someone should always be the first, and it should be shown that this is possible. As a result, the university at least started talking actively about this, about what is happening. Both at the level of students and above. "

A student of the University of Culture does not regret her actions, on the contrary, she realizes all the possible consequences and also receives tremendous support from relatives and colleagues from the university.

"I understood that the reaction could be radical, up to expulsion. But I also realized that I needed to do something.

My mother always supports me very much and helps me. We have similar positions in this regard. I told her that I think of doing this, but she did not expect that I would really do it, since I am a rather cautious person and always think over all actions. The rest of the family learned from the news channels.

A lot of people still write to me in all social networks and messengers, both acquaintances and not, with words of support and gratitude. Although some wrote messages saying that it all might be in vain, and it's a pity since it's a loss of money. There are also those who point out that I should understand: if I refuse, then not only the diploma but also the monetary award that I received earlier, at the very beginning of the summer. I answer all at once. I wrote an application for refusal to the special fund council, and I will return the funds."
