Kyiv will take a principled position on the non-recognition of the usurper.

Kyiv's position on Belarus' situation was very clear from the very beginning, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said on September 25 on the air of Savik Shuster's Freedom of Speech program on the Ukraina channel, gordonua.com reports.

"From the very beginning, we took a very clear position: we joined the assessments of the European Union, we are the only ones who summoned the ambassador for consultations, no other country did this. Very clearly - no one hesitated - after this "inauguration," I made a comment accordingly," he said.

Thus, the Foreign Minister commented on the host's words that Kyiv is careful in its statements, and the reaction to Lukashenka's assumption of office was published on the minister's Twitter.

Kuleba stressed that the foreign minister's position, regardless of where and how it is made public, is the official position of the country.

"This position is straightforward: the inauguration that took place does not mean that Lukashenka is recognized as the legitimate head of state. We believe that when the state must choose between supporting a government that behaves unfriendly towards Ukraine and systematically violates human rights in its country and the people - really friendly to us - we must be on the people's side. And Ukraine has articulated this very clearly: we are on the side of the Belarusian people. We understand the risks, but there are times when we need to show principles," he added.
