Hennadz Fiadynich Released From Serving Sentence At Place Of Residence

Hennadz Fiadynich Released From Serving Sentence At Place Of Residence
HENNADZ FIADYNICH

One of the leaders of the REP union is seeking his release document.

In January 2021, one of the leaders of the REP trade union, Hennadz Fiadynich, was taken off the register in the Criminal Executive Inspection of Tsentralny District Police Department of Minsk, where he had been on the register for two years. However, the professional leader has not yet managed to obtain an official document on the termination of his serving the sentence at the place of residence.

- I received verbal notification that my name had been taken off the police register, but there are no documents confirming my release. The other part of the punishment is still in force - the ban on holding positions related to the performance of administrative and managerial functions for five years. Nevertheless, I will seek a certificate that my name was taken off the police register, - Hennadz Fiadynich told praca-by.info.

On August 24, 2018, the court of Savetski district of Minsk passed the sentence in the "trade union case": found Hennadz Fiadynich and Ihar Komlik guilty under Part 2 Article 243 of the Criminal Code of Belarus ("tax evasion on a large scale and sentenced them to 4 years of restricted freedom without sending to open institutions with a ban on holding senior positions for 5 years").

On November 9, the Minsk City Court upheld the verdict of the Savetski District Court.

The Criminal Executive Inspectorate of Tsentralny District informed Hennadz Fiadynich about the regime of serving the sentence at the place of residence on January 4, 2019.

Ihar Komlik was registered with the criminal-executive inspection of the Frunzenski District Police Department of Minsk in December 2018; his sentence was shaven off for a year under an amnesty, and he was released from serving the sentence at the place of residence back in 2020.

What changed in the professional leader's life after the end of serving the sentence?

- Now I can travel around Belarus, go on business trips, leave my apartment at weekends and holidays, help my mother-in-law at the summer cottage. It is especially felt at weekends: you get up in the morning and feel that you can go not only from the eighth floor to the first floor, but go outside and get some air. The wife and mother-in-law, who had to work together at the summer house for three years, rejoiced most of all at this conditional freedom.

However, the end of serving a sentence does not mean complete freedom, Hennadz Fiadynich admits:

- The issue of going abroad remains unresolved. Since there is an additional punishment, the police have the right to call me once every six months and check where I work, what position I hold - this is the right of the penal inspection. In any case there is no complete freedom yet.

- After the trumped up case of the trade unions, they made a cottage industry out of stamping criminal cases. They tested the scheme of fabricating criminal cases on the REP trade union, and if the trade union case still shows some clumsy attempts to at least make an appearance of "proving the crime", now political criminal cases are being fabricated out of thin air. Yet such crimes have no statute of limitations: one will have to answer for the fabricated criminal cases, - Fiadynich is convinced.
