PACE Secretary General Supported Creation Of Permanent Group On Situation In Belarus

The main goal of the group is protection of human rights in our country.

As we reported earlier, PACE supported the initiative of the representative of the permanent delegation of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine in PACE, MP Alexei Goncharenko, to create a special group on Belarus and introduce a new wave of sanctions against Lukashenka.

Today Alexei Goncharenko has reported that he raised the issue of the situation in Belarus with the Secretary General of the Council of Europe Marija Pejčinović Burić.

"Secretary General has supported my initiative, which was yesterday supported by German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas, currently presiding in the Council of Europe, to set up a permanent Council of Europe group on the situation in Belarus, primarily on the protection of human rights," - Alexei Goncharenko writes.
