Prosecutor General's Office Denied Detention of Vitsebsk Prosecutor

Tut.by, citing its sources, reported on the arrest of the Vitsebsk prosecutor, 48-year-old Yury Ramanouski. We were unable to get official comments from any law enforcement agency - they did not answer our calls. Later, the Prosecutor General's Office announced that he was fired but not detained.

There is no information on the Vitsebsk prosecutor's office website in the column "prosecutor." Back on Friday, January 22, the name of Ramanouski was there.

The journalists tried to get an official comment from the regional prosecutor's office representatives, the Prosecutor General's Office, the Department of the Investigative Committee for the region, the KGB. It was not possible to contact anyone.

"He was dismissed from the prosecutor's office last week; the information about the initiation of a criminal case against him is not true," the Prosecutor General's Office said.
