Political Scientist: Lukashenka's Dismissal Is Highly Probable Already This Year

The sunset of the dictator's era continues.

President Lukashenka has no prospect of retaining real power. This is what political analyst Dzmitry Balkunets said in an interview with ukraina.ru.

- What is your prognosis for the political future of Belarus in the next year?

- The decline of Lukashenka's epoch continues; he has no prospects for maintaining any serious authority. The only thing he can do is to persecute his opponents, imprison and physically liquidate them. He has no prospects for normalizing relations with the West, maybe China will give him some resources. Russia is unlikely to support him financially, probably it will give him some small resources, but nothing more.

It may end very quickly for him, or it may take a long time. But it is obvious that this man will go down in history as a dictator who is destroying the state and trying to unleash a civil war in the country.

- How likely is it that Lukashenka will be dismissed this year?

- There is a high probability.
