Disastrous figures in official statistics.

The events of August and the pandemic, as can now be seen from official statistics, canceled out the long-term efforts of Belarusian officials.

For many years, Belarusian officials and businessmen have tried to make our country attractive for foreign tourists. Significant sporting events were held in the country, agricultural estates were massively built, the visa-free regime was introduced. At some point, it began to work out - the tourist flow, bringing such a necessary foreign currency for the country, grew smoothly, but steadily, writes the Telegram channel Nashy Hroshy.

The question was important, because it concerned not only money, but also the image - our country began to fall into various ratings of attractiveness for tourists.

It all ended very abruptly in 2020. The events of August and the pandemic, as can now be seen from official statistics, canceled out many years of efforts, throwing us back to the indicators of inbound tourism ten years ago. And this is only considering the statistics of 2020.

Apparently, 2021 will show even sadder results, because this year most of those wishing to visit our country came from not the calmest countries and only in order to get to the border with the European Union.

Let's see who visited us the most, and how much the tourist flow from these countries has decreased recently.

In the pre-crisis year, 2019, 405,472 tourists entered Belarus in an organized manner. This figure, as we have already said, was deservedly considered a source of pride, the result of many years of work.

For comparison, in 2016 there were 217 398 tourists, and in 2018 - 365 534. 2020 was obviously a disaster not only for the whole country, but also for inbound tourism in particular. This year, 80,972 tourists entered the country in an organized manner - exactly five times less than in the previous year.

Among the guests who visited us, in the first place, as expected, is Russia, for many of whose inhabitants we were the reserve of the conserved "Union", where you can shed a nostalgic tear, remember the youth associated with the USSR.

The flow of such people wishing to visit the "island of stability" in 2019 accounted for more than half of all inbound tourists (217,837), and by 2020 it had decreased by 76% to 52,263 people.

In 2019, Poland sent 61,349 tourists to the Blue-Eyed Belarus, and little Lithuania - 76,060. A year later, the tourist flow from these countries turned into a petty trickle, decreasing by up to 13,562 people from Poland, and a total of 6,719 people from Lithuania (falling from this country - by 91%).

The graphs are full of red numbers of impressive losses, let's go a little through the list: Latvia - there were 10,478 people, now 1,116, Germany - there were 4,538 people, now 818, Ukraine - there were 3,578 people, now 748.
