The final deadline for completing the synchronization is the end of 2025.

The Lithuanian government has confirmed plans to synchronize the country's power system with the EU by the end of 2025. This was announced by Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė at the end of the meeting of the State Commission, which evaluated the implementation of the synchronization plan.

According to Šimonytė, the pandemic may bring some technical works back to schedule, however the final deadline for the synchronization remains the same, i.e. the end of 2025.

This year, it is planned to expand the interstate interconnection with Poland and optimize the transmission lines in the north-east of the country, Delfi writes.

After the synchronization is completed, Lithuania, together with Latvia and Estonia will disconnect from the BRELL ring, which has been operating since the Soviet times.

We remind that Vilnius is against letting the energy from the BelNPP to the European market.
