Turkish Banks Stop Transferring Money To Belarus

The reason lies in international sanctions.

Turkish banks began to reject transfers to Belarus, the founder of the research company InComeIn, Iryna Yuzvak, said on Facebook, and Solidarity pointed it out.

- Turkish banks have stopped transferring money to Belarus. Regardless of what kind of company and with whom it has contracts in Turkey. There are also periodic problems with making payments to Turkey, - noted Yuzvak.

The reason lies in international sanctions.

- Their argumentation is like “We don’t want to take risks because of the sanctions. We also remember well the story that happened with Halkbank because of the US sanctions against Iran,” Yuzvak wrote.

She clarified that this refers not to just one separate bank: “We received a refusal from all banks that our partners contacted in order to fulfill their obligations.”

A few years ago, the United States opened a case against the Turkish state-owned bank Halkbank for violating sanctions against Iran. The scandal and the ensuing trial of one of the bankers greatly complicated relations between Turkey and the United States.

In the comments under Iryna Yuzvak's post, Belarusians confirm the information.
